01 · The problem

The break is short. The queue is not.

Everybody on campus is free at the same time, so everybody arrives at the counter at the same time. The kitchen can cook far more food than it can take orders for — the bottleneck is the counter, not the stove.

Ordering ahead moves the decision off the counter and spreads the kitchen's work across the morning instead of fifteen frantic minutes.

Worth doing the arithmetic

  • 12 mina realistic queue at peak
  • × 2meals on a normal campus day
  • × 5days a week
  • ≈ 2 hrsevery week, spent standing in line

Your numbers will differ, and that is the point — multiply your own queue by your own week.

02 · The flow

How it works

Four steps for you, and what happens on the kitchen side of each one.

  1. 01

    Find something to eat

Search every canteen at once, or filter by category, price, rating and pure-veg. Sold-out dishes are hidden, so what you see is what exists.

    In the kitchen

Owners toggle availability from their phone the moment a tray empties.

  2. 02

    Build the order

Add items, adjust quantities, apply an offer, and leave notes — less spicy, pack the chutney separately, no onion.

    In the kitchen

Notes and dietary flags sit on the order card, not buried in a detail screen.

  3. 03

    Choose when to collect

Now, or scheduled up to a week ahead. Pin it to the lunch bell and the kitchen paces its prep around your slot.

    In the kitchen

The queue sorts oldest first, so nobody is skipped for ordering quietly.

  4. 04

    Collect with a token

You get a six-character code and a QR. Status moves from placed to confirmed to cooking to ready, with a notification at each step.

    In the kitchen

Staff scan the QR or type the code, see the bill, and enter cash received for automatic change.

06 · For canteens

For canteens

Orders arrive before the crowd does, so prep starts earlier and the counter stops being the bottleneck. You keep taking payment exactly as you do now, and FoodieHub takes no commission.

A live queue

Orders appear the second they are placed, oldest first, on any phone or tablet. One tap moves an order to the next state.

Token scanning

Scan the student's QR or type the six-character code to pull up the order, take payment and calculate change.

Sales analytics

Revenue, average ticket, best sellers and busiest hours over 7, 14 or 30 days. Export orders or item sales to CSV.

Menu control

Add dishes with photos, set per-day opening hours, and select several items to hide or delete at once.

Offers

Percentage or flat discounts, with minimum spend and a cap. Pause and resume without deleting.

07 · Pricing

Free on both sides

There is no student fee and no canteen commission. FoodieHub is run for the campus, so the only money that moves is the money that already moved — from a student to a canteen, at a counter.

  • No service or convenience fee
  • No commission from canteens
  • No online payment, ever
  • Prices set by the canteen

Your data

We store
Your name, email, phone number, your orders, and any allergies you choose to save. Your phone number reaches a canteen only while you have an active order with them.
We never store
Card details, UPI IDs or bank information. There is nothing to store, because payment happens at the counter.
Who sees what
Access rules are enforced in the database itself, not only in the app. A canteen sees its own orders; you see yours.

08 · Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does it cost more than ordering at the counter?
No. You pay exactly what is on the menu board. There is no service fee, no convenience fee and no delivery charge, because there is no delivery.
Do I have to pay online?
No. You pay the canteen when you collect, the same way you already do. FoodieHub does not process payments and never holds your money.
What if I do not turn up?
Nothing is charged, because nothing was paid. It does waste food, so canteens can see your order history.
Can I cancel an order?
Yes, while it is still pending or confirmed. Once it moves to preparing the ingredients are committed, so cancellation closes. Call the canteen instead.
How far ahead can I schedule?
Up to a week. Pick a date and time, or use the quick options for one, two or three hours from now.
What if the canteen closes while I am ordering?
A closed canteen still shows its menu, but checkout is disabled. Individual dishes disappear as soon as they are marked unavailable.
Which canteens are on it?
The ones listed above. Any canteen on campus can register and publish a menu, and an administrator approves it before students see it.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in the browser. You can add it to your home screen if you want it to open like an app.

Your next lunch, without the queue

Free to use, and you pay the canteen exactly what you would have paid at the counter.
